Free QR Code & Barcode Generator

NirooCode is a free online tool for creating QR codes and barcodes that look great and scan reliably. Design a code in your browser, customize every detail, and download it in print-ready quality — no account, no watermark, no cost.

Whether you need a single link for a poster or a polished contact card for your business, the generator gives you full control over colors, shapes, logos and frames while quietly making sure the result stays readable on real-world devices.

What is a QR code?

A QR code (“Quick Response” code) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information in a grid of black and white squares called modules. A camera reads the pattern and decodes it instantly — turning a printed square into a website, a phone number or a saved contact in under a second.

Compared to a classic one-dimensional barcode, a QR code holds much more data and includes error correction: even if part of the code is dirty, scratched or covered by a logo, it can still be read correctly. That resilience is what makes QR codes so practical for packaging, signage, tickets and marketing.

How to create your code

1 · Choose a type

Pick what your code should do — a website link, contact card, Wi-Fi access, a calendar event, a phone number and more. The form adapts to each type so you only fill in what matters.

2 · Make it yours

Adjust module shapes, eye styles, colors and gradients, drop in a logo, or add a framed call-to-action. A live preview updates as you design, so what you see is exactly what you export.

3 · Download & use

Export as PNG, WEBP, SVG or PDF in print-ready sizes. Vector formats stay razor-sharp at any scale — perfect for business cards, posters, packaging or shop windows.

One code for every purpose

Website & links

Send people straight to a landing page, menu, shop, app store listing or social profile with a single scan.

Digital business card

Share name, company, phone, email and address as a vCard that saves directly into the scanner's contacts.

Wi-Fi access

Let guests join your network by scanning — no spelling out passwords. Supports WPA/WEP and hidden networks.

Events & locations

Add an appointment to the calendar or drop a geo-pin so customers can find your venue instantly.

Documents & PDFs

Link menus, brochures, manuals or price lists so people always reach the latest version.

App downloads

One code that points Android and iOS users to the right store for your mobile app.

Supported formats

QR Code

The everyday 2D code. High data capacity, fast scanning, and built-in error correction so it still reads when partly damaged.

Micro QR

A compact variant for tight spaces where a full QR code would be too large, with a smaller quiet zone.

Aztec

A 2D code with no required quiet zone — common on tickets and boarding passes where space is limited.

Data Matrix

Dense 2D code used in industry and logistics to mark small parts and components reliably.

PDF417

A stacked barcode used on ID cards, shipping labels and documents that need to hold more text.

1D barcodes

Classic linear barcodes (EAN, UPC, Code 128 and more) for retail, inventory and product labelling.

5 tips for codes that always scan

1

Keep the quiet zone clear

Leave a clear margin of at least four modules around the code. Without this empty border, scanners struggle to detect where the code begins and ends.

2

Maintain strong contrast

Dark modules on a light background scan best. Avoid low-contrast color pairs, and never invert to light-on-dark unless you raise the error correction to compensate.

3

Size a logo sensibly

A logo covers part of the data, which the error correction has to recover. Keep it small enough to stay within the error-correction budget so the code stays readable.

4

Don't over-shape the modules

Heavily rounded or decorative module styles reduce the connectivity scanners rely on. Our generator raises the error correction automatically when you choose a complex style.

5

Test before you print

Always scan the exported code with a couple of real phones before committing to print. What looks fine on screen should be confirmed at the final size and on the final material.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QR code generator really free?

Yes. You can design, customize and download static QR codes and barcodes free of charge, with no watermark and no sign-up required.

Do my codes ever expire?

Static codes never expire. The information is encoded directly in the code itself, so once it's printed it keeps working indefinitely.

Can I add my logo and brand colors?

Absolutely. You can change the module and eye shapes, apply solid colors or gradients, place a logo in the center and wrap the code in a call-to-action frame.

Which file format should I download?

Use PNG or WEBP for screens and quick sharing. For print — business cards, posters, packaging — choose SVG or PDF, because vector formats stay sharp at any size.

Will a customized code still scan reliably?

Yes, as long as the basics are respected. The generator preserves the quiet zone, keeps the finder patterns intact and raises error correction automatically for complex designs, so styling never breaks scannability.

What can a QR code contain?

Plenty: website links, plain text, email, phone numbers, SMS and WhatsApp messages, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards (vCard), calendar events, geo-locations, app-store links and PDF references.

What's the difference between a QR code and a barcode?

A traditional barcode is one-dimensional and stores a small number along a single line. A QR code is two-dimensional and holds far more data — text, links and structured information — while still scanning in a fraction of a second.

Do I need an app to scan the codes?

No. Modern phone cameras read QR codes out of the box. For specialized 2D formats like Data Matrix or PDF417, a dedicated scanner app may be needed.
